FUTBALL

I just want to be better every day, to get better every day, not to be better than anyone else.

I found peace in this sport, I found myself in this sport. The countless amount of hours outside training, or inside in the gym. The amount of times I have had self doubt, lost confidence, had bad games, practices. The late night’s at the pitch playing under the moons light, thousands of touches every week. The recovery days, the injured month’s. The Good games, The amazing games. Blood, Sweat and Tear’s for this game. Through out my journey while playing this sport it has brought me happiness at most. It has taught me valuable lesson’s. Till this day I am still learning. The first memory of me and a fut ball was when I was in elementary school, I would borrow a school mates ball and kick it against the handball wall that you would find in all of the NYC public parks. I remember asking my mom, Charina, a-lot of times if i can play soccer and if she could put me in a recreational league. She always said no, it was for reasons for at the time I would have not understood, but now I do, My mom didn’t have the money to put me on a soccer team. We were living at my aunt and uncle’s house. At the time my mom was going into work at 6:30 and got off at 3:30 went home, ate and changed than went to night classes at Brooklyn College. Up until I was 7 I would only see my mom for about 3 hours every day maybe more if I was lucky. When I was around 9 my step dad, Hector came into my life. He was a futball fan. Once him and my mom got closer we moved into a brand new apartment this was when I was 11. It was the summer of 2018 where I first played organized soccer league. And the reason why is my step dad had enough money so I can play and he payed for everything. Without him, his motivation and energy towards me I would not be the soccer player that I am today.

It was the summer of 2023 and the end of my sophomore year. This was the time when college coaches can talk to me about commitment and recruitment. I started to train for the Harvard College ID. All summer I trained incessantly with two college soccer players whom I deeply respect. Mauricio and Ale had both played D1 and MLS NEXT. I felt like my game had grown tremendously but most importantly my confidence and maturity were on a completely different level than ever before. I played well and ended up talking to three coaches, one of them being the Harvard Head Coach.
